GEMS Education has announced the upcoming launch of its advanced Centre of Excellence for Arabic Language at GEMS Al Khaleej International School (AKIS). Scheduled to open in September 2024, it aims to revolutionise Arabic language education by offering students unique opportunities for immersive learning, cultural understanding, and integration of technology.
Positioned to be a leading hub for Arabic language education in the UAE, the AKIS Centre of Excellence is dedicated to providing students with a comprehensive curriculum that respects the UAE’s values and National Agenda. It aims to cultivate a strong appreciation for Arabic heritage and traditions among students.

The Centre of Excellence aims to enhance Arabic language proficiency and appreciation among students, parents, and teachers through a variety of innovative programs. Its curriculum blends traditional and modern teaching methods, leveraging advanced technology like the Nao Humanoid Robot, Tami Telepresence Robot, and Pepper Robot for interactive lessons.
Besides this, it also has dedicated spaces for reading, writing, listening, and speaking, along with a diverse Arabic library and access to green screen studios and VR headsets, enriching learning experiences. Experiential learning includes project-based activities, cultural visits, and immersive Arabic experiences, promoting practical language use and cultural understanding.
Additionally, the Centre of Excellence prioritises the professional development of Arabic teachers with training programs in collaboration with institutions like the Queen Rania Teacher Academy (QRTA) to ensure effective teaching methods.
