UAE Ramadan Working Hours: All You Need To Know

The Holy Month of Ramadan is set to start next week, with specific dates awaiting confirmation based on moon sightings. Authorities in Dubai and Abu Dhabi have announced revised working hours for employees during Ramadan.

Working Hours For Private Sector In UAE

During Ramadan, private sector employees in the UAE will work two hours less. Depending on their job nature, workers may also have the option for flexible or remote work arrangements.

Working Hours In Dubai For Public Sector 

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources has released the 2024 Ramadan working hours for the public sector. During the Holy Month of Ramadan, from Monday to Thursday, employees will work from 9am to 2.30pm, while on Fridays, the working hours will be from 9am to midday. 

Ministries and federal agencies have the option to adopt flexible or remote working arrangements during Ramadan. Additionally, employees can work remotely on Fridays, provided that no more than 70% of the total workforce chooses this option. 

Working Hours In Abu Dhabi For Public Sector 

Abu Dhabi Government has announced that official working hours for government employees in the emirate during Ramadan will be 9am to 2.30pm, Monday to Thursday, and from 9am to 12pm on Fridays.

Remote working of up to 70% of the total number of government entity employees whose jobs do not require presence at the workplace will also be activated on Fridays.

Working During Ramadan 

During Ramadan, working hours are shortened for all employees, regardless of their religion, as per federal decree law No. 33. Ramadan will begin next week and this year, Ramadan will fall during the winter season.
