Azerbaijan is all set to host the COP29 climate change summit in 2024, securing support from fellow Eastern European nations. The President of COP28, Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, extended congratulations to Azerbaijan for winning the bid to host COP29, emphasising the shared goal of advancing climate action.
Mukhtar Babayev, Azerbaijan's Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, expressed gratitude to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Secretariat and the United Arab Emirates for their efforts in organising the event. He highlighted the collective effort needed to address challenges, emphasising Azerbaijan's commitment to climate change mitigation.
Babayev acknowledged the importance of the Eastern European Group's support in Azerbaijan's successful bid. He affirmed that Azerbaijan's dedication to sustainability goes beyond promises, reflected in its national policies and actions. The minister also pledged close collaboration with the UAE and Brazil, the host of COP30, ensuring a smooth transition and continued joint efforts.
