Speed Limit On Al Ittihad Road Reduced

RTA

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Police General Headquarters have decided to lower the speed limit on Al Ittihad Road, from Sharjah to Al Garhoud Bridge, from 100km/h to 80km/h, starting 20 November 2023.

This decision, made in collaboration with the Dubai Police General HQ, stems from a recent examination. The study assessed factors such as the number of entrances and exits, intersection proximity, frequency of traffic accidents, and recent enhancements in the area.

Traffic signs on Al Ittihad Road, from Sharjah to Al Garhoud Bridge, will be changed to show the new speed limit of 80km/h, down from 100km/h. Red lines will indicate the start of the reduced speed zone, following traffic safety standards to improve driver awareness.

The RTA emphasised the significance of working together with the Dubai Police General HQ to implement joint preventive actions, like adjusting radars. Changing speed limits considers factors like road design speed, the speed most drivers typically follow, urban development along the road, pedestrian activity, important facilities, past traffic accidents, and the volume of traffic on the road.
