Bright Livelihoods are the experts in helping people in career transitions, find their home in the world of work by helping people to get the very best out of their futures. They explore one of their patented 12 tenets or core values this month -Balance.
The fifth tenet from the Bright Livelihoods 12-part model of change is Balance. It is really important that you look at your physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual health as part of making a career change because you are the instrument that does the work.
So here are three questions to ask yourself to help you move toward a more balanced self.
The first question is: If you could take on one new healthy habit that would really help you stay more in tune with yourself, what would that habit be?
For some, it may be to take on a little more exercise or to eat more vegetables, smoke less or drink more water. Whatever it may be, think of just one healthy habit that you want to take on and answer that question. Take that first step.
The second question to ask your self is: What has been getting in the way of making that a healthy habit?
Is it that you have just been avoiding it? Is it that you are not ready to eat more vegetables or you are too busy? Maybe your habit is that you need to sleep more but you have not been able to, perhaps you have been watching too much TV or spending too much time on facebook at night. It is important before you commit to a healthy habit to ask yourself - why have not you made this a habit in the past? What has been getting in the way?
The third question to ask yourself is: what can I do, what incremental step can I take next week to move toward this healthy habit?
Those who want to start having breakfast every day may start by having breakfast on Monday. Those of you looking to add more exercise may take some time out to explore gyms or yoga studios in your area. So just take one simple step toward that healthy habit and soon you will be having that habit in your life, but just make some progress this week.
