I’d been conscious of my hooded eyelids for many years. Even looking back at pictures of when I was a kid, I always looked kind of sleepy. Obviously over the years, it became more pronounced and I had been considering a Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) for quite a while; but the thought of surgery concerned me.
Then I bumped into a friend that had recently had her ‘eyes done’. She looked ten years younger and said she couldn’t be happier with the results. After she informed me of how straightforward and painless it was, and that it could be done without a general anaesthetic, I made the decision to go and speak to someone about it. Having met Dr Sanjay Parashar at various events over the years, he was my first choice and I booked myself a consultation.
What’s involved?
Blepharoplasty is a cosmetic procedure that removes or tightens sagging skin around the eyes, resulting in a smoother, tauter and more youthful appearance. After my consultation with Dr Sanjay I felt confident in my decision and was ready to go ahead.
On the day of the surgery I arrived at 8am and was given Twilight sedative. I felt fine on it and insisted on walking into the theatre. I then fell asleep and didn’t feel a thing. The anaesthetist woke me and wheeled me into the recovery room, monitored me for a few hours and I was home by 1pm!
I was advised and prepared for the bruising and swelling which changed on a daily basis, and Dr Sanjay removed the stitches after 5 days.
What are the results?
I knew from the moment I woke up that my eyes felt different, but it was once the stitches were removed that I really noticed it. My eyes literally felt lighter and more open.
To say I’m delighted with the whole procedure and the results would be a complete understatement! My only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner.
How much?
The total cost for the procedure is Dhs 20,000.
