On Thursday, 20 April, the Moon Sighting Committee in the UAE encourages all Muslims to sight the crescent moon.
Eid Al Fitr will be held on Friday, 21 April, if the moon is sighted on Thursday, 20 April, however, if not sighted, Saturday, 22 April, will be marked as Eid Al Fitr.
Individuals are advised to call 02-6921166 and will then be directed to the nearest court to record their observations.
The International Astronomy Center has previously mentioned that Eid Al Fitr is likely to fall on Saturday, 22 April, due to the difficulty in sighting the moon without the use of a precise telescope in most Islamic countries.
