AI-Powered Camera Boosts Driving School Training In Dubai

RTA / X

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced significant improvements in driving school training, thanks to its new Smart Monitoring System powered by artificial intelligence (AI).

Installed in driving school vehicles, the AI-enabled cameras have monitored over 1.7 million training sessions across the last seven months, involving 245,764 trainees.

Developed by RTA’s Licencing Agency, the system not only slashes inspection time from 20 minutes to just one, but has also increased the detection of safety violations by five times. These include critical behaviours such as mobile phone use, failing to wear seatbelts, and distractions like eating, drinking, or even sleeping during lessons.

This smart solution enhances accountability for both instructors and trainees, improving overall safety and training quality. RTA also plans to introduce advanced features such as predictive analytics and licencing system integration later this year, making the process even more robust.
