The UAE Food Bank launched a campaign to donate 3 million meals throughout the Holy Month of Ramadan to people in the UAE and around the world, and were successful in reaching the halfway mark within the first ten days of Ramadan.
Around 1.5 million meals were distributed to individuals and families that are less fortunate.
The mission of the programme is to minimise waste during Ramadan, and has partnered with food companies, kitchens, restaurants and hotels in the UAE to distribute daily meals through Iftar tents.
The UAE Food Bank is also running their 'Your Harees On Us' initiative, which has restaurants serving at least one portion of the traditional Emirati dish Harees, at Iftar tents.
