The UAE Food Bank is set to donate 3 million meals to low-income individuals and families in the UAE and around the world, during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Held in collaboration with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, the meals donated help to provide food for those in need.
The initiative is in line with managing food surplus and ensuring no food gets wasted, as the UAE Food Bank will collect excess food from hotels and Iftars and will then provide the meals to the various organisations.
Additionally, another initiative launched is the 'Your Harees On Us', which will serve one portion of Harees, a traditional Middle Eastern dish, at Iftar tents to those in need.
His Excellency Dawoud Al Hajri, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees said, "The UAE Food Bank’s initiatives are aligned with the UAE’s core principles of goodness, benevolence, and sustainability. Through its diverse activities and initiatives, the UAE Food Bank aims to promote these values globally, in accordance with its vision and mission of managing food surplus, reducing waste, and delivering food to beneficiaries locally and worldwide."
