The first day of Shawwal will be on Sunday 24 May.
The moon-sighting committee in the UAE has announced that Saturday 23 May is the last day of Ramadan, and Sunday 24 May will be the first day of Shawwal.
The committee, who held a virtual meeting, headed by Minister of Justice Sultan bin Saeed Al Badi, agreed it was not possible to see the new moon and that Ramadan will last 30 days and confirmed that Sunday is the first day of Shawwal, marking the first day of Eid Al Fitr in the UAE.
It has been already been confirmed that the public sector and private sector will have a holiday up to 3 Shawwal, which means that work resumes for the public and privater sector on Wednesday 27 May.
