Friday morning saw the opening of an additional one-lane bridge to improve the flow of traffic from Airport Street towards Casablanca Street and reduce the waiting time at the nearby traffic lights.
This is the third bridge opened recently on and around Airport Street as part of the project to ease the traffic for those arriving and leaving Dubai International Airport.Earlier this month the RTA opened two bridges at Al Rashidiya Street and Airport Street junction.
The ongoing project also includes increasing the number of lanes at Casablanca Street towards Al Garhoud by at least 3 to 4 lanes, as well as improvements at the junctuions between Nad Al Hamer Street and Airport Street and Marrakesh Street and Airport Street.
Why all the construction you may ask? This is all part of the RTA's initiative of upgrading and improving traffic flow on Airport Street in prepartion of the estimated growth of passengers using Dubai International Airport to 92 million annually by 2020!
Although construction will still be in effect, residents can look forward to easier routes to and from the airport.
