UAE issues warning after video goes viral

The UAE General Prosecution has said it will prosecute people who post videos on social media that are against the morals and traditional values of the UAE.

The General Prosecution issued the warning in a statement on Friday evening following video clips called "Musawa" that went viral on social media, depicting young school boys and girls dancing and performing acts that contradict the country's norms.

Attorney General Dr Hamad Saif Al Shamsee said that parents should ensure that their children do not produce or share such immoral videos as they harm the society and would get them into trouble for violating the law. He added that schools and universities are also responsible for teaching good morals and discipline to children.

"Young people should adhere to the virtues and values of morality and should not practice such acts that affect the public morals so as to respect the national identity," said Al Shamsi. "They must also respect institutions and schools that train them to be good and responsible citizens."
