‘Erth Dubai', the major community and cultural initiative launched earlier this year by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, has already drawn contributions from more than 5,000 participants and generated over one million social media interactions to date.
Building on this momentum, coordinators of the initiative announced the launch of a new Erth Dubai mobile application, designed to make participation easier. With a simple interface, the app allows residents to upload written or recorded stories, images, and historical documents directly, creating a richer and more interactive archive.
The new app will play a key role in accelerating the data collection process, connecting contributions through a unified interactive platform and enhancing the quality and dissemination of content.
Erth Dubai was launched in February this year to create a living archive of personal stories, memories, and historical accounts that showcase Dubai’s journey through the decades. The submissions made by residents of Dubai highlight diverse aspects of the city's heritage, from tales of fishing and shipbuilding to stories of education, trade, art, and everyday life in older neighbourhoods.
Many students who took part in the initiative’s School Challenge were also honoured recently at a special event for their submissions, many of which featured personal accounts from their parents and grandparents.
As part of wider efforts to safeguard the emirate’s cultural legacy and heritage, Dubai residents are encouraged to continue sharing their stories via the official website or the mobile app.
