Traffic Improvements Around 27 Dubai Schools Completed

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed major traffic improvement works across 10 school-zone sites, directly benefiting 27 schools in Dubai. Scheduled during the summer break to avoid disruption, the works were designed to improve road safety and ease congestion for parents, students, and staff who have returned to their routines as the schools reopened on 25 August.

Upgrades covered school-zone areas including Al Warqa 1, 3 and 4, Al Safa 1, Al Barsha 1, Al Garhoud, Al Mizhar 1 and 4, Al Qusais, and Al Barsha South. Schools such as GEMS Al Barsha National School, Brighton College Dubai, Jumeirah College, Safa British School and many others will benefit from these changes.

Upgrades included widening access roads to Warqa schools complex, adding new parking spaces in Al Mizhar and Al Barsha, and creating new school entrances and exits in Al Warqa and Al Mizhar. RTA also installed pedestrian signals and introduced traffic-calming measures to enhance student safety in areas near schools.

These measures have increased parking capacity by 90% in some locations and improved traffic flow by up to 40%, ensuring smoother school runs. Parents and school staff now benefit from easier drop-offs, safer crossings, and reduced congestion during peak times.

RTA also urges parents and bus drivers to follow safety guidelines, use designated drop-off zones, and comply with traffic rules to ensure safe journeys for children.
