Wizz Air Abu Dhabi Suspends Flights Earlier Than Planned

Wizz Air Abu Dhabi

Budget airline Wizz Air Abu Dhabi will be suspending operations earlier than expected, on 25 August, instead of the initially announced 1 September. The announcement of the sudden change was made in an email sent to all relevant passengers, seen by Connector, which was only received today.

Passengers affected by the change have been offered a full refund in the form of travel credit, valid for one year. They can also request a cash refund through a dedicated online claim form, the link to which has also been provided in the email. Travellers who wish to fly before 25 August may contact the airline’s call centre to arrange a free rebooking, though this option cancels their travel credit and refund eligibility.

Wizz Air has also cautioned passengers of long waiting times due to high call volumes.

The airline had earlier cited supply chain issues, regional geopolitical tensions, and restricted market access as reasons for closing its Abu Dhabi base. The airline will now shift its focus to its core markets in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as Austria, Italy, and the UK.
