Ramadan Likely To Begin On 1 March

The International Astronomical Centre (IAC), a scientific centre based in Abu Dhabi dedicated to astronomical issues, has predicted that the Holy Month of Ramadan will likely begin on Saturday,1 March across most Islamic countries.

According to Mohammed Shawkat Odeh, Director of IAC, the crescent moon may be visible by telescope in some parts of the Islamic world on Friday, 28 February. The moon is expected to be visible through a telescope in Western Asia, most of Africa and Southern Europe, while naked-eye visibility is possible in parts of the Americas.

Final Confirmation Based On Crescent Visibility

Even though most countries are expected to declare the start of Ramadan on 1 March following traditional moon sighting practices, final confirmation will be made by official moon-sighting committees in each country.
