Dubai Police Leads Efforts In Protecting Youth From Drug Problems

Dubai Police, through its Hemaya International Centre, is leading efforts to protect families and communities from the dangers of drugs. As part of the General Department of Anti-Narcotics, the centre runs awareness campaigns in malls and across communities through school programmes. This also involves partnerships with healthcare providers and community groups to reduce the risk of substance abuse across the city.

As the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is approaching on 26 June, Hemaya International Centre is working closely with the community to create a safer, healthier future for all.

The centre’s focus is on early prevention, especially among youth. Families are considered key allies, with Dubai Police encouraging parents to stay informed, engaged, and to seek help if they suspect a problem. Confidential services are available for those who need support or wish to report concerns.

A major part of the campaign is spreading awareness of Article 89 of the UAE’s Anti-Narcotics Law, a clause that offers drug users and their families a path to treatment without legal charges, encouraging recovery over punishment.

One of the most impactful initiatives from last year's programme was a 10-day campaign at Dubai Hills Mall, which reached many people through awareness channels, which included hundreds of workshops, counselling sessions, and interactive competitions to engage the public.

Dubai Police also partnered with the Erada Centre for Treatment and Rehabilitation to host another large awareness drive last year, delivering more than 1.5 million awareness messages and directly benefiting over 14,000 individuals.
