Dubai's Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has announced that Dubai's private education sector is set to grow further with the addition of 39 new schools, universities, and early childhood centres scheduled to open during the 2024 - 2025 academic year.
Among the new institutions are five UK curriculum schools, Dubai British School in Jumeirah, GEMS Founders School Dubai South, New Dawn Private School in Muhaisnah, Hampton Heights International School in Twar, and Springfield International School in Al Aweer. Additionally, one French curriculum school, Lycée Francais Jean Mermoz South, will open in Al Barsha South.
The new schools will introduce over 16,000 additional seats to Dubai's private school sector, offering a variety of fee levels.
In addition to the new schools, 29 early childhood centres are set to open in Dubai during the upcoming academic year. This follows the launch of seven early childhood centres in June and July, including the first in Dubai to offer the Chinese curriculum. Most of the new centres will follow the UK Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
Dubai's higher education sector is also expanding, with four new institutions licenced by KHDA set to open during the 2024 - 2025 academic year. Three of these, SKEMA Business School from France, Plekhanov Russian University of Economics from Russia, and Symbiosis International University from India will offer both bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. Additionally, Neohorizon School of Business, a collaboration between the UAE and China, will provide a specialised master’s degree in business.
Her Excellency Aisha Miran, Director General of KHDA, said, "The growth in Dubai’s private education landscape reflects the emirate’s commitment to providing high quality, diverse educational options for learners at all stages. By welcoming these new schools, early childhood centres, and higher education institutions, we’re not just adding numbers, but creating more opportunities for our children and youth. Together, we will ensure that every child in Dubai has access to the best possible education in an environment that nurtures their potential and prepares them for the future."
Dubai’s private education sector currently includes 220 schools, 274 early childhood centres, and 38 higher education institutions. All three sectors experienced record enrolment growth during the 2023 - 2024 academic year.
