RTA Urges School Bus Operators To Comply With Student Safety Requirements

As the 2024-2025 academic year approaches, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has called on all school bus operators in the Emirate to enhance their preparations. This push aims to ensure the delivery of high-quality transportation services for students of all ages.

The RTA closely monitors school transport in Dubai, understanding its importance to both UAE's leadership and parents. As the new academic year approaches, RTA is ensuring that students are prepared to return after the summer break. RTA is working with schools and bus operators to emphasise health and safety measures to create a secure environment.

RTA ensures that all buses are regularly inspected to ensure they are safe and roadworthy and are equipped with emergency devices for swift responses if needed. The authority also urges students to follow bus attendants' instructions when getting on and off the bus, with attendants responsible for escorting them to their homes.

Furthermore, it has instructed school bus operators to ensure drivers follow traffic regulations, especially around schools, and to avoid blocking entrances and exits to prevent traffic congestion and ensure smooth flow.

RTA requires school transport companies to offer thorough training for their drivers and bus attendants on safely and professionally managing students. Drivers are specifically trained on their key role in ensuring student safety by adopting safe driving practices.

Safety Is Never Compromised

School buses are equipped with surveillance cameras to ensure no students are left behind, a system to monitor student movement during the journey, and an emergency alert system for immediate contact with the management centre. They also have GPS tracking and an automatic fire suppression system to handle engine fires.

RTA uses artificial technology to oversee 1,000 school buses, enhancing student safety and ensuring timely arrivals. This technology tracks trips, monitors student data, assesses driver behaviour, and provides quick alerts when needed.
