The Blue Flag accreditation is a recognised international eco-certification program administered by the Foundation for Environmental Education, a Danish non-governmental organisation. This voluntary program encompasses private and public beaches and marinas, aiming to engage the public with their environment and foster a deeper understanding of nature.
Blue Flag monitors environmental conditions to minimise the impact of human activities on beaches, marinas, and boating operators, working collectively to promote sustainable tourism development.
To achieve this recognition, beaches must adhere to rigorous environmental, educational, safety, and access criteria. After receiving the award, owners/operators commit to ensuring ongoing compliance with all specified criteria.
