Dubai Mall, renowned for its record-breaking size and diverse attractions, stands as a top destination in the city. While it has long been a favourite for its shopping, dining, and entertainment options, a change is on the horizon. From 2024, visitors to Dubai Mall will no longer enjoy free parking. Yep, you read that right! Salik, the toll company in Dubai, has teamed up with Emaar Malls to introduce a new parking system at Dubai Mall. This association is designed to create additional sources of revenue and make it easier for visitors by improving traffic management.
As part of the deal, Salik's technology will be employed for parking at Dubai Mall. It means there will be automatic fee collection for parking without needing a physical ticket. The system will use vehicle plate recognition to deduct fees from Salik user accounts, following rules set by Emaar Malls.
As per the companies, this system is expected to come in place at Dubai Mall by the third quarter of 2024.
When it comes to parking, Dubai's private parking area has over 50,000 parking spaces. Salik aims to provide access control for residential and institutional parking, including malls and businesses. They plan to offer a platform for fee collection through an app and registration plates.
Salik will handle designing, financing, developing, installing, and managing the parking system. Meanwhile, Dubai Mall will supply the necessary infrastructure, office space and handle car park maintenance.
