Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) and Amazon UAE have unveiled a new pilot programme that enables individuals to deliver Amazon packages on foot in densely populated areas of Dubai.
The initiative, launched under DFF's Sandbox Dubai within gig economy sector, was approved by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of DFF, and aims to create innovative, flexible work opportunities while supporting sustainability goals.
The programme will allow individuals and small business owners to earn flexible income by participating in on-foot delivery services. Beyond expanding opportunities in the gig economy, the model reduces reliance on delivery vehicles, helping ease traffic congestion and cut carbon emissions, in line with Dubai’s environmental and sustainability goals.
Officials highlighted the partnership’s role in boosting entrepreneurship, promoting economic growth, and enhancing delivery convenience for customers.
