Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the automation of the issuance of supplementary information sign permits. These sign permits are now accessible on RTA's website and are in line with RTA's ongoing digital transformation. With this digital transformation, RTA aims to provide convenient and smart services to customers anytime and anywhere.
To avail of the service, customers can log on to RTA's website and submit applications for supplementary information sign permits. RTA issues permits to entities such as health and emergency facilities, transportation hubs, public places, and major tourist destinations that let them install supplementary signs at specific locations. However, the permit is given once the entities meet the stipulated conditions provided in the Executive Council Resolution (23) of 2013 No. (3) of 2021, which regulates the issuance of supplementary information signs on Dubai roads.
Once the permit is obtained, the design, installation, maintenance, and removal of supplementary information signs should also comply with legal and technical specifications outlined in the Executive Council's Resolution and RTA’s Traffic Control Means Manual.
This automation serves a dual purpose, maintaining operational efficiency while together minimising paper consumption and simplifying processes for all users. It empowers customers to submit permit applications and secure them through the RTA website, eliminating the requirement for paper-based documentation. The service remains accessible 24/7, allowing customers the freedom to utilise it at their convenience without the hassle of physically visiting RTA service centres. Upon successful automated payment processing, permits are issued in electronic form.
Furthermore, the system sends notifications to customers through their mobile devices and email addresses, ensuring they stay informed about the progress of their applications. This innovative service empowers users to conveniently renew, cancel, or check the status of their permits.
