Review: Waldorf Astoria RAK

Sometimes you just have to get away, and that was exactly what I needed a couple of weeks ago, but I simply did not have the inclination or energy to get on a plane! Instead, I threw a bag in the car and drove off to the Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah.

Our palatial junior suite with a sea view and private balcony was exquisite - but I do love a good bathroom and this one was amazing! Decked in black marble and gold, it had a huge tub, separate rainfall shower and came complete with big fluffy robes and Salvatore Ferragamo products. Lush!

The food was exquisite and dinner at the stylish Lexington Grill was definitely a highlight. Famous for its steak, we enjoyed delicious starters followed by some of the best cuts we’ve ever had. Breakfast the next morning was an international affair at Qasr al-Bahar. The buffet included hearty cooked breakfasts, with various live cooking stations, freshly baked pastries, fresh juices and smoothies all served until 12 noon.

We spent our time lazing around on the beach and the cabanas next to the lap pool. There are nine restaurants and bars, two swimming pools, a children’s club, fitness centre, tennis courts and water sports activities, plus the 18-hole championship golf course and the impressive Al Hajjar Mountains on the horizon, so there really is something for everyone!
