From Monday, 10 April, the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has announced that the new design for the Dhs 1,000 banknote will be in circulation.
The note was launched in celebration of the 51st UAE National Day, and has added security features, and will be available at banks and exchange houses.
On the front side of the banknote is an image of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan next to a model of a space shuttle, inspired by the meeting with NASA in 1976.
At the top of the front side of the note are the words 'Emirates Mission to Explore Mars - the Hope Probe', along with an image of an astronaut added to both sides of the banknote, as a security mark.
A picture of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant in Abu Dhabi is seen on the back portion of the note, as it plays a vital role in diversifying energy sources and reducing carbon emissions.
The colour of the note is brown in colour, similar to the current note in circulation and will make it easier to identify.
