Sheikh Mohamed Sends More Aid To Turkey And Syria

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE has sent aid of $100 million (Dhs 367 million) to Turkey and Syria.

The aid will be divided equally between the two countries and will provide relief after the countries suffered mass casualties and damage to infrastructure following the earthquakes on 6 February.

Search and rescue teams were also sent out by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed to Turkey and Syria, along with the setting up of field hospitals in Turkey to help the people affected by the earthquakes.

The first earthquake to hit the two countries was in the morning and measured a 7.8 on the Richter scale, with the second earthquake felt in the afternoon measuring a 7.5 on the Richter scale.

Around 7,900 people have been reported dead in Syria and Turkey.

Additionally, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has sent humanitarian aid of Dhs 50 million to Syria.

The first two relief planes from the UAE have now reached Syria.
