The Volunteer Programme for Phase 3 of the clinical trials for the Russian human adenovirus-based vaccine has launched in Abu Dhabi.
The trails taking place in the UAE are through a partnership between the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Russia’s sovereign wealth fund, and Abu Dhabi-based Aurugulf Health Investment.
'Vaccine for Victory' is a campaign being conducted for Abu Dhabi citizens as well as residents.
500 volunteers will be a part of the initial trials in Abu Dhabi.
To volunteer, you can register at www.v4v.ae, by providing your basic information as well as your medical information.
Volunteers must be 18 years and older and living in Abu Dhabi. They should not have had Covid-19 before or have participated in any other Covid-19 trial. They should also not have suffered from any communicable or respiratory diseases in the last 14 days.
The vaccine will be administered twice to the volunteers over a span of 20 days and will be monitored through visits and telecommunications for over 180 days.
The trials will be conducted by the Department Of Health, with joint supervision by the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention with medical protocols handled by Abu Dhabi’s public health provider, the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company, SEHA.
The vaccine was developed by the Gamaleya National Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.
