Abu Dhabi Digital Authority (ADDA) has announced that a new system will be put in to place to detect seat belt and mobile phone violators.
This new system is set to take effect from 1 January 2021.
Abu Dhabi Police and Abu Dhabi Digital Authority have partnered to ensure road and traffic safety as well as a reduction in road accidents using the 'VAST' System.
The Vehicular Attention and Safety Tracker (VAST) system, aims to preserve the safety of drivers, passengers and all road users, as well as raising awareness and educating the community on the importance of following safe driving practices, as part of efforts to lead the digital future of the Abu Dhabi Government and enable an innovative and effective digital government.
This system is set to capture high-resolution images of the violators, with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) cameras.
Drivers that are detected of not using their seatbelt and using their mobile phones while driving will receive a text message of their violation.
