New Guidelines Issued For The Reopening Of Dubai’s Early Learning Centres

The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has announced new protocols for the reopening of early learning centres (ELCs) across Dubai.

As part of the new guidelines, all ELC staff members have to undergo a COVID-19 PCR test prior to reopening. Centres are also required to collect health and travel declaration forms from both staff and children.

Child care providers need to wash their hands for at least 20 seconds before and after handling bottles for infants prepared either at home or at the centre.

The 79-point circular also lists out guidelines for physical distancing including maintaining a distance of 1.5 metres between children in the playgrounds.

KHDA has also instructed ELCs to sanitise all bags and shoes as soon as staff and children arrive at the facility.

"Nappy changing areas, and the bathroom usage routine for the little children should follow specific guidelines for disinfection and sanitisation as per Dubai Municipality guidelines for child development and day care centres," the circular stated.

Children enrolled at an ELC are not required to wear masks with group activities and gatherings limited to ‘stable’ groups of 10 or fewer children.

Each facility is required to have at least one staff member, holding a current certification in paediatric first aid and CPR, available at the centre at all times.
