Historic UAE-Israel Peace Treaty Will Be Signed At The White House

The UAE and Israel will sign their historic peace deal, known as the Abraham Accord, in Washington D.C. on 15 September, according to a senior White House official.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, will be leading the delegation of senior UAE officials to Washington D.C. for the signing ceremony.

The deal was announced on 13 August following 18 months of talks whereby the UAE agreed to normalise relations with Israel in return for the suspension of Israel’s annexation plans of the West Bank.

Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, tweeted on Tuesday night: "I am proud to go to Washington next week, at the invitation of President Trump, and to attend the historic White House ceremony to establish the peace agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates!”

A delegation of Israeli businesspeople, led by Bank Hapoalim, CEO Dov Kotler, visited the UAE on Tuesday for a two-day trip that will include meeting bankers and businesspeople in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Another Israeli delegation, led by the heads of Bank Leumi, a major commercial bank in Israel, is expected to arrive in the UAE on 14 September.

UAE is the first Arab Gulf state and third Arab country to normalise relations with Israel.
