A new visa has been introduced by the Dubai Government where residents from other countries around the world can retire in Dubai.
The new programme, Retire in Dubai, a directive of his Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and driven by Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing and General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, is aimed at foreign nationals who want to retire in Dubai.
Applicants must be over 55 years old, have UAE medical insurance and fulfil one of the required criteria of either earning a monthly income of Dhs 20,000, having savings of Dhs 1 million or owning a property in Dubai worth Dhs 2 million.
The new retirement visa is valid for 5 years and can be automatically renewed as long as the criteria are still met.
Retirement visas for Dubai residents were introduced last year with the same criteria, however the new directive now opens it to non-residents as well.
Applications for the Retire in Dubai visa can be made online.
