Requirements Announced That Schools Should Put In Place When They Reopen

Protocols have been announced by the Dubai Government that private schools in Dubai will have to follow in order to reopen after the summer holidays. A full list of the requirements was released by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) which included guidelines on social distancing, the wearing of masks and transport to and from school.

Children over the age of six are required to wear a mask at all times, and when sitting in the classroom, children must maintain a distance of 1.5 metres apart. Pupils will not change classes for different lessons, but will remain in the same classroom and teachers will change location for each lesson. Teachers will have to wear masks at all times and class sizes can vary as long as the minimum required distance is maintained.

School buses can operate but at 50% capacity and everyone boarding will have their temperature checked, and anyone with a temperature that exceeds 37.5°C will not be allowed to board. Everyone on the bus over the age of 6 must wear a mask.

Sports lessons can be carried out but only for sports that do not need any physical interaction, and swimming pools in schools, as well as showers an changing rooms will be closed. On the days that pupils have sports, they are to go to school in their full sports wear.
