Like a number or similar online organisations over the past few months, Kibsons, the online fruit and vegetable delivery company, had to adapt to the increased demand from UAE residents who were not able to conveniently go out for their grocery shopping.
There was no advanced warning that demand for online grocery shopping would increase at such an incredible rate, and behind the scenes a lot had to be done, very quickly, and is still being done, to ensure Kibsons continued to deliver, and the team have given an insight into what action was taken during the past 3 months, especially in relation ot the staff they.
Due to the increase in demand, capacity to fulfil orders was very quickly increased to four times original capacity, by adding more vehicles into the fleet and also recruiting more personnel. In fact Kibsons state they created 400 new jobs across all departments to fulfil deliveries.
The efforts of staff were also acknowledged with bonuses of 40% given out, as well as the extra benefits associated with additional hours worked. A new function was also added to the website, where customers could offer a tip that would go directly to the people packing and delivering that particular order. This resulted in a further Dhs 100,000 in tips each month distributed directly among the people fulfilling the orders.
