Dubai Police divers rescued a motorist who accidentally drove her car into Al Mamzar Creek. The 41 year-old driver of the car had received some bad news on the telephone and parked her vehicle. However the driver did not manage to put the car in parking mode, and the car started moving forward at which point the driver accidently pressed on the accelerator pedal rather than the brake.
The police divers manage to rescue the driver and salvage the sinking car which had managed to get 30 metres offshore.
"A rescue team including divers from Dubai Police was immediately dispatched to the scene and reached the site within a few minutes. They Secured the driver who had managed to get out from her car before reaching deep waters," explained Lieutenant-Colonel Ali Abdullah Al-Qassib Al-Naqbi, director of the Maritime Rescue at Dubai Police.
"Our divers located the car which was 30-metres offshore, and then lifted it out of the water using a police crane," continued Lieutenant Al-Naqbi.
