Swimming pools across Dubai have been given the go ahead to reopen by Dubai Sports Council based on the directives of Dubai's Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management.
The reopening of pools applies to hotels, health clubs, gyms, recreation clubs, and residential and commercial facilities. However it does not allow for gatherings, parties and events and also excludes spa, sauna, jacuzzi and pool bars.
Swimming academies and aquatic sports centres who wan to resume activities, will need tio obtain approval from the Dubai Sports Council.
Dubai Sports Council has put in place certain conditions that need to be met before pools can be allowed to be used again, and before reopening, swimming pools will need to undergo deep cleaning to minimise the risk of water-borne diseases and the facilities will also need to get a water quality test done.
Once open swimming pools will have to be regularly maintained and make sure the hygiene and sanitisation requirements are adhered to, which includes regular cleaning regime, water testing, and maintaining the chlorine concentration.
Around the pool area and i common areas, frequently touched surfaces will need to be cleaned at least once every hour, and items that are shared, including handrails, lounge chairs, tabletops, pool side showers, etc.are to be cleaned each time they are used.
Where there are pool side showers, pool users are requested to use the shower before and after using the swimming pool. amd pool users should also bring their own towels as the facilities are not allowed to supply them.
Social distancing is also to be observed by users of at least 2 metres, inside and outside of the pools. Single groups of up to 5 members are permitted and can be seated together, however the minimum distance between different groups should be at least 4 metres.
All pool staff, trainers and swimming pool visitors should wear face masks or face shields, however they can be removed during any activity needs under water submersion.
