Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced some measures to be applied by users of public transport.
The first and foremost measure is to maintain a safe distance between all passengers.
From today onwards, bus entry doors will be controlled by the driver. The front and middle doors will be opened, and the rear door will remain shut. All bus shelters in Dubai are closed temporarily as part of precautionary steps.
For taxis, a maximum two passengers can sit in the taxi's rear seat.
RTA has also increased the frequency of Dubai Metro to accommodate passengers while at the ame time taking fewer passengers on each trip.
According to a statement issued on WAM, the government news agency, RTA has called on public transport passengers not to use public transport unless necessary; plan their journeys in advance to avoid peak hours, as delays are expected due to the new measures taken; and cooperate with the supervisors deployed at bus and metro stations or onboard these modes. It has also passengers to use personal protective equipment while moving around in public areas.
