The UAE government has urged the public to stay at home unless it is absolutely necessary to get essential supplies, such as food and medicine, or to perform essential jobs.
A joint statement issued by the Ministry of Interior and the National Emergency and Crisis and Disasters Management Authority, urged UAE citizens, residents, visitors and all those living in the nation, to comply with the instructions and guidelines issued by the health and security authorities, limiting social contact and avoiding crowded places.
The authorities urge everyone to use their own cars with a maximum of three individuals per vehicle and everyone should maintain social distancing protocols during family gatherings.
Do not visit hospitals except for critical or emergency cases and use face masks.
Instructions with regards to the movement of public transport, taxis and other means of transportation will be announced later.
The UAE law on communicable diseases, which includes fines and jail terms, will be enforced against all violators, added the statement.
