A new global report looking at specific aspects of safety, places Abu Dhabi and Dubai amongst the safest cities in the world. The Safe Cities Index 2019 looks at 60 major cities around the world and ranks them in 4 different categories to reach an overall ranking. The four categories considered are Digital Security, Health Security, Infrastructure Security and Personal Security. In all categories, both Abu Dhabi and Dubai scored above average points and ranked in the top 30. The strongest category was Personal Security, where Abu Dubai ranked 11th and Dubai ranked 12th.
Overall, Abu Dhabi ranked 27th and Dubai ranked 28th among the 60 cities ranked. Top of the list is Tokyo, maintaining the number one ranking it has held for the last 5 years, followed by Singapore, Osaka, Amsterdam and Sydney.
Though Abu Dhabi has featured on the Safest Cities Index previously, this is the first time Dubai has ranked. Other cities ranked include Barcelona, London, Madrid, Manila, Mumbai, New Delhi, New York, Riyadh and Shanghai.
