Motorists outside Abu Dhabi can now register online to pay for the newly introduced road tolls in Abu Dhabi which come into effect on 15 October.
The Department of Transport announced that while drivers with Abu Dhabi-registered vehicles will be automatically enrolled in the payment system, vehicles registered outside the capital city are required to be registered on the new website.
Commuters can create an account on the website by entering their Emirates ID number, the expiry date of the card, their licence plate details, their email address and phone number. Commuters are required to pay Dhs 100 to register their account, of which Dhs 50 will be credited back into the account to pay for the road tolls in Abu Dhabi.
Four toll gates at Al Maqta, Mussaffah, Sheikh Zayed and Sheikh Khalifa bridges have been installed in Abu Dhabi and once operational on 15 October, motorists will be charged Dhs 4 during peak hours (7am to 9am and 5pm to 7pm), Saturday to Thursday and Dhs 2 during off-peak hours. Toll charges are capped at Dhs 16 per day.
