No matter who you are, if you’re hungry, a shawarma is never a wrong choice. Now the Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology (ESMA) is ensuring that your sandwich is prepared with the utmost security under federal regulations.
On Saturday, ESMA announced an entire evaluation ofshawarma the shawarma preparing process, which includes supplying, slaughtering of the meat, packing, preparing, worker’s health and that it meets Sharia legal code.
Among a detailed account of requirements for producers, ESMA will also updating the requirements the packing and storing processes of the frozen meat, ensuring that it be kept in a clean and non-contaminant environment, banning any preparation of the meat outdoors and will require all workers to obtain a health certification validating that they do not have any diseases, ulcers or respiratory problems.
Abdullah Al Maeeni, director general of ESMA said this will all be in part of an effort to uniform regulations ensuring the health and safety of consumers and raising the standards of fast food in the UAE.
