In the hopes of saving a couple of dirhams, a 33-year old Indian employee is now under trial for breaking the laws and tampering with Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) parking tickets, heard the court on Thursday.

The inspector notified his supervisor, who instructed him to inform the police about a suspected forgery, said records.
“When I double checked the ticket on the dashboard, I realised that the typed number had been altered by handwriting. The person had fudged the typed date and wrote a new date with pen … the date was changed from October 5 to 6,” said the RTA inspector.
The suspect pleaded not guilty when he faced trial before the Dubai Court of First Instance.
The trial is now on hold and will resume on 14 December.
