Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a new expansion of its popular Bus On Demand service as part of ongoing efforts to improve public transport connectivity across the emirate.
The latest expansion will introduce additional service zones and improved coverage in several residential and commercial communities, making it easier for residents to connect with metro stations and major transport hubs. The four new areas now added ot the service are Al Qusais, Jumeirah Village Circle, Al Warqa’a and Dubai Investments Park, taking the number of areas served to 17 by a total of 49 buses.
The Bus On Demand service allows passengers to book shared minibus journeys through a mobile app rather than relying on fixed bus routes and timetables. The system uses smart technology to plan routes based on passenger demand, helping reduce waiting times and improve journey efficiency.
The expansion supports Dubai’s wider smart mobility strategy and aims to encourage more residents to use public transport for shorter daily journeys.
The service has become increasingly popular among commuters looking for flexible and affordable travel options, especially in areas with limited direct public transport access.
The expansion also comes as Dubai continues investing heavily in sustainable transport projects, including new electric buses, upgraded bus routes and smart transport infrastructure across the city.
Residents can access the service through the Bus On Demand mobile application, where journeys can be booked quickly using location-based pick-up and drop-off points.
