Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) inaugurated two key bridges as part of Oud Maitha and Al Asayel Streets Development Project, which forms part of the Sheikh Rashid Corridor Development Project.
The project contributes to linking Al Asayel Street with Al Khail Road via Al Wasl Club Street. The first bridge serves traffic from Al Asayel Street towards Al Wasl Club Street, while the second bridge carries traffic from Al Asayel Street to Al Khail Road towards Business Bay Crossing.
RTA announced that 72% of the overall project has been completed, and 70% of the tunnel construction works have also been completed. The tunnel will serve traffic from the Dubai–Al Ain Road towards Oud Maitha service road.
The project serves several key service facilities, residential communities, and development zones, including Za’abeel, Al Jaddaf, Oud Maitha, and Umm Hurair, in addition to major destinations such as Latifa Hospital and Al Wasl Club.
Furthermore, the project will increase the traffic-carrying capacity of Oud Maitha Street from 10,400 vehicles per hour in both directions to 15,600 vehicles per hour, representing an increase of 50%, cutting average journey time from 20 minutes to 5 minutes.

Four Intersections Being Upgraded
Four intersections are undergoing major upgrades as part of the project, in addition to the two recently opened bridges.
At the Oud Maitha Street and Sheikh Rashid Street intersection, a new dedicated left-turn slip lane is being constructed for vehicles heading to Al Garhoud Bridge, boosting capacity there to 1,800 vehicles per hour. The right-turn lanes from Sheikh Rashid Street onto Oud Maitha Street are also expanding from two to three, increasing capacity to 4,000 vehicles per hour.?
At the intersection of Za'abeel Palace Street, Al Khail Road, and Oud Maitha Street, an additional lane is being added to the left-turn ramp from Al Khail Road to Dubai–Al Ain Road, doubling its capacity from 900 to 1,800 vehicles per hour. A new single-lane tunnel with 1,200 vehicles per hour capacity will direct traffic from Dubai–Al Ain Road to Al Wasl Club Street. The existing bridge at this junction is being widened from two to three lanes, raising throughput from 2,200 to 3,300 vehicles per hour.
