Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched rapid traffic solutions at eight key locations across the emirate. The move is part of a wider 2026 plan that includes more than 45 traffic enhancements aimed at easing congestion, improving traffic flow, and boosting road safety.
Eight Key Locations
The works currently span the following locations across Dubai:
-
Emirates Road from Sharjah towards Wadi Al Amardi Street
-
Umm Amara Street from Sheikh Zayed Road towards Al Wasl Street
-
Jebel Ali–Lehbab Street
-
The area between Sama Al Jaddaf and Al Jaddaf Waterfront near Al Jaddaf Metro Station
-
Al Na'ayat Street in Al Barsha 1
-
Al Maktoum School in Al Satwa
-
The intersection of Al Ittihad Street and Al Quds Street
-
Sheikh Rashid Street near Grand Hyatt Dubai towards Bur Dubai
Once completed, the projects are expected to produce measurable improvements in traffic performance at the targeted sites.
The upgrades include:
-
Widening selected streets from one lane to two lanes
-
Converting roundabouts into signalised intersections
-
Constructing new links to improve connectivity between main roads and nearby residential and commercial areas
-
Implementing at-grade upgrades to optimise existing junctions and links
-
Providing additional parking spaces at schools and key facilities
-
Introducing a comprehensive set of traffic safety enhancements to support a seamless and secure mobility experience for all road users
RTA aims to cut congestion levels and reduce journey times by about 15% to 30%, which will enhance traffic flow.
