The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) has announced reduced working hours for public sector employees, ahead of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

The authority confirmed that staff at ministries and federal institutions would work from 9am until 2.30pm from Monday to Thursday and from 9am until noon on Fridays, throughout Ramadan.

In addition, employees will also be permitted to adopt flexible working practices, provided the scheduled daily hours are completed. It also allowed 70% of staff to work remotely on Fridays.

Ramadan is expected to begin in the UAE on 18 or 19 February. The moon-sighting committee will determine the official date on 17 February.
