The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has forecast a fall in temperatures, periods of fog, strong winds, and rough seas this week. The country is currently being affected by an extension of a weak surface low-pressure system from the east and a high-pressure system from the west, accompanied by a weak upper-air low-pressure system.
The weather today is expected to be fair to partly cloudy, with low clouds forming over islands and some northern and eastern areas. Humidity is forecast to increase overnight and into Tuesday morning. Winds will be moderate, while sea conditions will remain stable in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
The temperature in Dubai is expected to reach highs of 24°C and lows of 18°C, while Abu Dhabi is forecast to experience highs of 24°C and lows of 15°C.
Tuesday, 13 January: Fair to partly cloudy, and low clouds will appear over some northern and eastern areas. Humid by night and Wednesday morning over some coastal and internal areas with a probability of fog or mist formation. Winds will be moderate, reaching speeds of 35kph. The sea will be moderate in the Arabian Gulf and in the Oman Sea. The temperature in Dubai is expected to reach highs of 25°C and lows of 17°C, while Abu Dhabi is forecasted to experience highs of 25°C and lows of 16°C.
Wednesday, 14 January: The temperature in Dubai is expected to reach highs of 25°C and lows of 16°C, while Abu Dhabi is forecasted to experience highs of 24°C and lows of 15°C. Winds will be moderate, reaching speeds of 40kph. Humid by night and Thursday morning over some coastal and internal areas, especially westward, with a probability of mist formation. The sea will be slight to moderate, becoming rough by Thursday morning in the Arabian Gulf and in the Oman Sea.
Thursday, 15 January: Temperatures are expected to drop, with strong winds causing blowing dust and sand, reducing the horizontal visibility over some exposed areas. The sea will be rough to very rough at times in the Arabian Gulf and moderate in the Oman Sea. The temperature in Dubai and Abu Dhabi will reach highs of 22°C and lows of 15°C.
Friday, 16 January: Temperatures are expected to fall further, with strong north-westerly winds continuing to stir up dust and sand, reducing visibility. Wind speeds may reach up to 55kph, with very rough seas in the Arabian Gulf and rough conditions in the Oman Sea. The temperature in Dubai is expected to reach highs of 20°C and lows of 18°C, while Abu Dhabi is forecasted to experience highs of 21°C and lows of 17°C.
