Dubai Police have taken action against 90 people by confiscating their electric bikes after they were seen performing risky stunts on sports tracks at Kite Beach. The police posted on X that the stunts were hazardous not only to those riding but also to others nearby, and stressed they will enforce the law and safety regulations strictly.
The move comes amid ongoing discussions about the regulation and safe use of e-bikes and scooters in the emirate. While these vehicles are seen as a greener option for short trips, safety concerns have increased scrutiny.
Recently, the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority issued guidelines urging riders to obey speed limits on designated paths, stay in appropriate lanes, and wear protective gear like helmets and bright or reflective clothing to stay visible. Riders are also encouraged to keep a safe distance from pedestrians, bicycles, and other e-scooters.
