The National Centre of Meteorology has issued a weather alert until 4.30pm on Wednesday, 17 December. Motorists have been advised to exercise caution on the road after the UAE weather bureau issued a yellow dust alert and warned of visibility dropping to less than 2,000 metres in some parts.
There is also a possibility of scattered rain showers, particularly over the islands, with rainfall potentially extending to parts of the northern, eastern, and coastal regions. The NCM also noted the likelihood of cloud formations in certain pockets.
Winds are expected to be strong, reducing visibility and stirring up dust. Winds will blow from the south-east to north-east at speeds ranging from 15 to 30kmh, with gusts reaching up to 50kmh at times.
Sea conditions will vary from normal to rough, with the Sea of Oman set to witness moderate waves. The temperature will hover in the mid-20s Celsius, with humidity levels staying as high as 85%.
The authority urged motorists to lock all windows and doors to prevent dust from entering the vehicles and to monitor official channels for weather updates.
