The UAE is very strict when it comes to driving rules, and now, the Abu Dhabi police have warned motorists about distracted driving.

Footage shared by the Abu Dhabi police reveals a series of crashes that happen due to distracted driving. The footage was shared as part of the 'Your Comment' initiative, aimed at raising public awareness of dangerous driving behaviour.

The police urged motorists to remain focused while driving and avoid any kind of distractions. They also stressed that unexpected changes in traffic flow may demand immediate attention to avoid collisions, and staying alert is an absolute must. Failure to do so may lead to fatal accidents, the police said.

The police also warned motorists against using mobile phones while driving, including browsing the internet, checking social media, making calls, or taking photos, all of which significantly increase the likelihood of severe crashes.

The penalty for distracted driving is Dhs 800 and four black points.
